I was going through some older photographs this evening. This was taken at the Oregon Holocaust Memorial in 2008. I remember my husband and I had been exploring Washington park on foot. We wandered through the rose gardens, the nature paths, and even had found an disused train station for the Zoo train. When we came across this memorial, I had been startled at finding a violin laying on the ground in the middle of a park. I started looking around and noticed the battered suitcase and the broken doll laying on a bench. (After that, I had realized they were all made of bronze.) It was very haunting and poignant.
