I have been wanting to do something with star trails for a long time! It was with this idea that I headed down to City hall and the lovely mosaic fountain, last night. Unfortunately, City Hall is so very bright! Oh well, I fiddled around with the idea any way. Didn't get many stars, but I do like this one of the fountain.
Not ready to give up and move on though, I took one at a completely different angle! This one shows the bench's curve and uses the harsh shadows to create an interesting photo.
Before moving on to the next subject, I happened to glance back and see this through the trees.
The mill at the end of town was my next stop. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted before I got there, but it became apparent as I got there that this was my shot. It took a while to get the focus I was looking for. Thanks to my experience with the bridge, I had a little better idea of how to focus with no light!
A different orientation.
Having given blood yesterday, my brain had more energy than my body did. By the time I had got the photos of the mill, Kenobe and I had walked a good 2 miles carrying 50 lbs of gear. Coming back into Estacada, I was running out of steam and feeling a little foolish for not taking into account I might not be up to walking so far as normal. (Or bringing water.) By way of resting, I started working with the logger who stands guard at the edge of City Hall's lawn.
Found this guy as I was packing everything up to head home. He was just hanging out at the top of the fountain. Nicely back lit and very still as long as I was focusing.
This was to be my last excursion for Small Town Insomnia, however on my way home I thought of a few more locations/subjects. We will see!
Good night all!
The spider came out great! I can believe that must have been a bit of work to focus on something that small w that bright light coming straight thru the lense.
Also like your very first photo of the city hall.
